Restrictive media and focused attention (reflection on 'Hearts of Darkness')
Last night I watched, for the first time, 'Hearts of Darkness', the documentary made during the filming of Francis Ford Coppola's 'Apocalypse Now' (1979). The documentary was directed and steered largely by Francis's partner, Eleanor Coppola, who captures behind-the-scenes planning, struggles, catastrophe, insight and talking-heads interviews with cast and crew filmed some years later.

Sometimes I write fan letters to dead writers in my head. Eve Babitz, you're a genius. Jane Ausen, you make me laugh. Virginia Woolf, I know you don't know me but please leave that man whose name I can't even remember and run off into the sunset with your Vita. I've never written a fan letter to an actual alive person; doing so seems self-effacing and mundane. Dead authors, on the other hand, are History; being worshiped, for them, is a natural part of being dead. But maybe my real reasoning, my down in the gut reasoning, is that I know they can't write back, meaning they won't not write me back. They may be gods, but I am alive. And being alive means the dead cannot ghost you.

A sudden moment of realization
Sometimes, well to be honest, most of the time I live life as if I'm a character in a game. Like I view everything in a third person point of view. My late teens were whizzing past and I am now in my early to mid 20s. There are some very brief moments of clarity where I find myself catching a glimpse of my face in a mirror or seeing a photo of my face and my first thought would be "oh shit! I'm real.".
The other week I was out shopping for some clothes when my mother noticed that I had one strand of white hair on my head full of jet black. I saw in her eyes and face the difficult fact to swallow that her little boy wasn't so little anymore. We had a moment where little was spoken but a lot was said.

A couple thoughts
Okay, first, I got a chromebook and because this thing is made for using the web I decided to try using it as I did 10+ years ago. I don't know if I have grown, or if it is because the sites I used to visit are absolute shit today, but I find it incredibly boring, I don't understand how there are people who are chronically online.

I want an FPGBC Nintendo Gameboy-clone. Here's why it is cool and how to buy one if you live in Europe
An FPGBC is a Nintendo Gameboy / Gameboy Color handheld console clone; it does not use emulation software to run games and software, but instead, it is built with an FPGA Core inside. This means that this console clone will mimic the exact functioning of every chip inside an original Nintendo Gameboy or Gameboy Color to high degrees of accuracy that are usually impossible to achieve with software emulation.

getting there
Found some spots where api.janusvr.com and p.janusvr.com were still being used. Patched the proxy urls to be my own cors-proxy. Haven't commit those changes. At one point I'd loaded my world and couldn't move anywhere, but no (different) errors in the console. Eventually found out it was that I'd put in a <link> with attribute pos="". Which I guess it is NOT happy about. Got gravity turned on by default now with an attribute on the room tag. Moved the index.jml stuff to inside of the index.html. I may take it back out and then insert it with a CGI so I can use the jml.dtd on it. Added some text so I can remember which coordinate system janus uses.

My little gopher experiment
Many months passed since I posted anything on my good old phlog. And also many things changed in my life. In fact nothing is as it was just a couple of years ago. Since 2022 I have different job, I live on a different place and with someone different. I am a guy who does not handle changes well, but all these big ones were inevitable and I hope for better. But they were hard and everything non-essential had to be put aside, gopher as well.
